Spicy Greek Chicken Gyros with Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1 TB olive oil extra virgin
  • 1 TB lemon juice
  • 1 tsp garlic minced
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 3/4 tsp dried oregano

Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 cucumber small, peeled, seeded and diced
  • 4 plum tomatoes seeded and diced
  • 1/3 cup red onion minced
  • 2 TB fresh dill chopped
  • 1 TB lemon juice
  • 2 tsp fresh garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • hot sauce for serving

To serve

  • 4 pocket-less pitas warmed
  • 2 cups romaine lettuce thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese


  • Combine all marinade ingredients in a shallow bowl.
  • Add tenders, toss well to coat, and marinate for 30 minutes at room temperature or several hours to overnight in the fridge.
  • Combine all Tzatziki sauce ingredients and keep chilled.
  • Coat a grill or grill pan with cooking spray and heat on high heat.
  • Cook chicken for 3-4 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
  • Layer greens and grilled chicken on pitas. Top with Tzatziki sauce and garnish with feta cheese.
  • Serve warm.
