Canapés with Smoked Salmon, Lemon & Dill

For a seriously fun riff on bagels and lox, try these super adorable canapés for a standout appetizer at your next party or brunch. They'll never have to know making them is as simple as spreading cream cheese on a cracker.

Ingredients

  • cup cream cheese
  • 2 TB minced shallot
  • 1 tsp chopped fresh dill additional for garnish
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • ½ lb sliced smoked salmon
  • plain rye, or pumpernickel bagel chips

Instructions

  • Combine cream cheese, shallot, dill, lemon juice, and lemon zest in a small bowl. Slice salmon into ½” wide, long ribbons. When ready to serve spread ~1 tsp cream cheese filling on each bagel chip. Spiral or layer salmon on top and garnish with a sprig of dill.

Notes

The cream cheese spread and spiraled salmon ribbons can be prepared up to 1 day ahead and stored in a tightly sealed container in the fridge at the ready for fast assembly before your bash. To keep the bagel chips crisp, these are best put together before your party.
