Broccoli Rabe with Cannellini Beans

Lemony, garlic-y cannellini beans are the perfect compliment to slightly bitter broccoli rabe in this delicious side that'll keep 'em coming back for more!

Yield: 4 Servings


  • 1 lb broccoli raab (2 large bunches) ends trimmed
  • 1 ½ TB extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 TB minced garlic
  • 1 - 15oz can cannellini beans –drained and rinsed
  • 2 TB lemon juice


Coarsely chop broccoli rabe and rinse well. Cook for 3-4 minutes in a large stockpot of rapidly boiling, salted water. Drain and reserve.

Place olive oil and garlic in a large non-stick sauté pan. Turn heat to low and sweat garlic for approximately 10 minutes (keep oil and garlic together in center of pan to avoid browning). Add beans to pan and stir well to combine. Add reserved broccoli rabe and lemon juice to pan and toss to combine. Season well with salt and pepper.


This would also be delicious served on top of pasta, rice, or even crostini for a unique appetizer.
