Grilled Miso Baby Bok Choi

Bok choi may not be the first thing you think of when it's time for grilling, but after trying this dish you might change your mind. The grill brings out its natural sweetness while a tangy miso glaze gives it the perfect finishing touch.

Prep Time:  5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Yield: 8 Servings

  • 8 baby bok choi, halved lengthwise & rinsed/dried
  • Cooking spray
  • ¼ cup white miso paste
  • 3 TB mirin
  • 2 TB dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tsp low sodium soy sauce

Whisk together miso, mirin, brown sugar, sesame oil, and soy sauce in a small bowl. Heat a large grill pan or outdoor grill on medium high and spray with cooking spray. Grill bok choi for 7-8 minutes per side, until wilted and lightly charred. Spoon glaze evenly across cut side of each piece and grill, glaze down, for 1-2 minutes or until caramelized. Serve warm or room temperature.

If you’re doing this inside, be aware that the glaze may smoke a bit. Alternatively you can spoon the glaze over the grilled bok choi and pop under the broiler for a few minutes to caramelize.
