Overnight Oatmeal with Cranberries & Maple

Pull out the crockpot before bed to make an overnight success for tomorrow morning. This delicious oatmeal is a ridiculously easy stir-together recipe that's the next best thing to being served breakfast in bed. 

Prep Time:  5 minutes
Cook Time: 4-6 hrs
Yield: 7 Servings


  • 8 cups water
  • 2 cups steel-cut oats
  • 2/3 cup dried cranberries (or raisins)
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp table salt
  • ½ cup toasted slivered almonds


Combine all ingredients (except almonds) in a 5-6 quart crock pot.  Set to low and cook for 4-6 hours or to desired creaminess. Stir well to combine. Top each serving with 1 TB almonds.


Be sure to use steel-cut oats for this recipe as regular oatmeal will not hold up to this length of cooking. I'm a fan of the slight texture/toothsome-ness of the oatmeal after 4-6 hours of cooking. If you like your oatmeal on the creamier side feel free to cook up to 8 hours.
